Rumor Hints at Apple’s Aggressive iPhone Fold Strategy to Counter Samsung

Apple is preparing to compete with Samsung in the foldable phone market. A new rumor suggests Apple’s iPhone Fold Strategy is aggressive and designed to quickly establish the iPhone Fold in the market. Samsung has led the foldable phone segment since 2019, but Apple is expected to launch its first iPhone Fold in late 2026.

Apple’s move signals its intent to catch up with Samsung using a competitive pricing approach and a limited initial availability. This strategy could help Apple create a strong presence in the foldable phone space.

Pricing Strategy: Competitive but Risky

Reports initially suggested a price of $2,399 for the iPhone Fold, which would place it above the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 at $1,999. But new rumors claim Apple will set the price at $1,999, matching the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s price.

Apple’s decision to align the iPhone Fold price with Samsung’s could be a risky one. Since it’s a first-generation product, the iPhone Fold may struggle to justify a high price. Apple may even sell the iPhone Fold at a loss initially to establish its presence in the foldable market.

Limited Availability to Create Hype

Apple might also limit the iPhone Fold’s availability at launch. This would be similar to Apple’s past strategy, where they intentionally restricted supply to generate demand. Whether due to supply chain issues or a marketing tactic, initial availability could be limited, with broader release expected in 2027.

Samsung used a similar strategy with its Galaxy Z Trifold, offering limited quantities in select markets. Apple could adopt the same approach to build hype for the iPhone Fold.
